Campground Review: Philadelphia / West Chester KOA

Campground Review: Philadelphia / West Chester KOA

As we have mentioned in the last few posts, we chose to stay at the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in order to be close to family we had planned to visit in the area. Based on the name of the campground, you would expect it to be located in either Philadelphia or West Chester. However, the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA is located in Coatesville, PA. It is in a fairly remote area, but you can get to several nearby towns/cities relatively quickly. Make sure to yield to the campgrounds recommended routes to get to the campground as there are some fairly sketchy roads in the area if you are coming in a large RV or Big Rig.

The campground is farily hilly, but we were able to get to our site with no issues. There were several big pull-thru sites that make it an easy in and out campground. The deluxe sites look great with paved patios, patio furniture, and a fire pit. However, these sites don't seem to be quite as big as some of the regular full hookup sites. We did take a few walks in the campground, but it's not a good campground for biking (at least for us)! The pool area is very nice with full sun during the day and mostly shade in the evening. The campground also has a mini golf course and gem mining option for a minimal fee.

While the campground did offer free wifi, it was definitely not very good. This wouldn’t have been a big issue if we were able to use our cellular hot spots. However, our cell service (Verizon) was pretty bad too! The cable was okay, but the over the air network channels were much better (full HD).

The Philadelphia / West Chester KOA does offer guided tours to Philadelphia and Lancaster that provide an easy option if you are in the area to sight-see.
