Campground Review: Bear Creek Campground
It seems strange to be on the move again after spending the whole summer in Maine. But temperatures were still chilly, keeping us motivated to continue heading South to our next destination of Bear Creek Campground. We came across this campground as a few of our co-workers, Bob & Pam and Phil & Sue had stayed there less than a week ago. We followed in their footsteps, especially when we saw a special for a BOGO night free!
Bear Creek Campground looks to be fairly new and is located on the grounds of Lake Compounce Family Theme Park. The sites are long and level with water and electric hookups, but no sewer. It is a shame they didn’t take the extra time and money to put in sewer when they were building the campground. The facilities are very well-maintained with an impressive office building and super clean and roomy bathrooms. Since the campground is without sewer, the dump station is conveniently located on the way out of the campground.
Sites are fairly close together, so we recommend a site at an end of a row, as the interior sites are all buddy sites with RV doors facing each other. We did however, meet a lovely couple from Connecticut next door who were on their maiden voyage in their motorhome. If you happen to be reading this, it was wonderful chatting with you both and meeting your super friendly pup!
While the campground did have several nice sport’s courts, it would have benefitted from a pool. However, I assume they would prefer you spend your time patronizing the water park that is a part of Lake Compounce Family Theme Park. I did hear they offer a discount to the park, but not necessarily a bigger discount then you might find elsewhere. The park was not open during our stay, but we did appreciate the easy in and out Bear Creek Campground provided for us on our journey South.
