Campground Review: Artillery Ridge Camping Resort

Campground Review: Artillery Ridge Camping Resort

While we have already camped in Gettysburg twice this summer, we had yet to try out Artillery Ridge Camping Resort. When Russ decided to take the refresher of the RV Tech Course he originally took in Shipshewana, we made our reservations for Artillery Ridge where the class was being held. This campground in unique for a few reasons: they offer horse-camping and it is also the closest campground to the Gettysburg battlefield. There are several sites where you can keep your horses in pens right behind your campsite. The National Riding Stables are located right onsite and offer horseback tours of the battlefields. Parts of the battlefield are less than a mile from the campground and I actually biked to some nearby monuments one day during our stay.

With a two night stay, you receive free admissions to three local attractions (Gettysburg Diorama, The Lincoln Train Museum, and The Spirits of Gettysburg. If you are looking to spend time exploring the history of Gettysburg, then Artillery Ridge Camping Resort is a perfect place to stay.

The wifi is not very good unless you are super close to the office, even there it is slow when the campground is full. The campground has full hookups, but no cable. We were able to pick up several networks via antenna. There is a heated pool, but it was not open during our stay. The basketball court is really nice and the campground is fairly spread out making it a great place for an after-dinner or morning walk.

Make sure to take advantage of savings if you are a Passport America, Escapees, or Good Sam Member.

Check out some photos of the horses.....
